1. Plywood

Process: Also known as plywood, it is a three-layer or multi-layer board composed of special glue, veneer or veneer. Multi-layer solid wood panels on the market are also plywood.

Classification: Generally divided according to the number of layers. Common ones are three plywood, five plywood, nine plywood, twelve plywood, and eighteen plywood. Three-plywood and five-plywood are the most commonly used in decoration.

Specifications: Length is 2440MM, width is 1220MM, thickness is 3 cm, 5 cm, 9 cm, 12 cm, 15 cm and 18 cm, etc. (1 cm is 1 mm)

Advantages: small deformation, large format, convenient construction, no warpage, good tensile properties of horizontal grain.

Disadvantages: higher cost and large amount of glue. The surface layer is not as smooth as MDF, and the base layer is not as firm as MDF.

Uses: furniture, such as kitchen cabinets, wardrobes, tables, chairs, etc.; interior decoration, such as ceilings, wall skirts, floor liners, etc.

2. Block-board

Process: Also called big core board. It is a sandwich board made of wood core and upper and lower veneers (one or two layers on top and bottom) glued together.

Advantages: uniform market specifications (1220×2440mm), easy processing, good nail holding power, not easy to deform, light weight, and easy to construct.

Uses: Furniture, door and window covers, partitions, false walls, heating covers, curtain boxes and other places that require a certain support strength and relatively stable environmental humidity and heat are generally avoided in kitchens and bathrooms.

3. Particleboard

Process: Sawdust and wood scraps are pressed after adding adhesive.

Advantages: low price, sound absorption, sound insulation, pollution resistance, aging resistance, beautiful appearance, paint and various veneers can be applied.

Disadvantages: The density is heavier, and the weight of the manufactured furniture is heavier; the edges are rough and easy to absorb moisture, and edge sealing measures should be taken to prevent deformation. Especially the door hinges of cabinets, if they fall off or become loose due to abnormal external force, it is basically difficult to fix them again.

Uses: suspended ceilings, ordinary furniture, generally not suitable for making larger furniture.

4. Density board

Process: also known as fiberboard. It is made of wood fiber or other plant fiber and applied with urea-formaldehyde resin or other suitable adhesives. The surface treatment is mainly a process of mixing oil.

Classification: high-density board, medium-density board, low-density board (medium density board density is 550 kg-880 kg/m3, high-density board density ≥880 kg/m3).

Specifications: 1220*2440mm, 1525*2440mm, thickness 3mm, 5mm, 9mm, 12mm, 15mm, 16mm, 18mm, etc.

Advantages: smooth and flat surface, fine material, stable performance, firm edges, and good surface decoration.

Disadvantages: The moisture resistance is poor, and the nail holding force is worse than that of particleboard. If it is loose, it is difficult to fix it.

Uses: laminate flooring, door panels, partition walls, furniture, etc. Generally, MDF is used for furniture.

5. Decorative panel

Process: The plywood is used as the base material, and the veneer is made by an adhesive process. Different types of panels have different purposes:

Wood veneer panel: It is made of precious wood, real and natural, and is often used as a surface material for home decoration or furniture manufacturing.

Plastic panel: The PVC film is printed into a variety of patterns or wood grains for veneer, the color is bright, the pattern is beautiful, and the price is cheap. It is suitable for decoration in larger areas, such as hall wall decoration.

Paper veneer: There are many kinds, bright colors and rich patterns. It is often used for wall decoration, surface decoration of handicrafts, etc.

Metal foil veneer: good decorative effect and high strength. Metal texture surface decoration, such as elevator wall, door decoration, etc.

Other veneers: such as bamboo veneers, paint veneers, etc. It can be used in interior decoration.

6. Fireproof board

Process: It is composed of three layers of surface paper, colored paper and base paper (multi-layer Kraft paper). The base material is particle board or medium fiber board, which is made after high temperature pressing.

Thickness: Generally 0.8mm, 1mm and 1.2mm.

Advantages: bright colors, various edge banding forms, abrasion resistance, high temperature resistance, plunging resistance, anti-permeation, easy to clean, moisture-proof, non-fading, delicate touch, affordable, avoiding indoor painting and reducing pollution.

Disadvantages: The door panel is flat, unable to create three-dimensional effects such as bumps and metal, and the sense of fashion is slightly worse.

Uses: furniture surfaces, kitchen cabinet panels, kitchen counter-tops, showcases, laboratory counter-tops, exterior walls and other fields. When the fireproof board is used, it is pressed together with other boards.

7. Melamine board

Alias: Also called double veneer, paint-free board, full name is melamine impregnated adhesive film paper veneer wood-based panel. It is a kind of ecological board.

Process: soak paper with different colors or textures in melamine resin adhesive, then dry it to a certain degree of curing, then pave it on the surface of particleboard, moisture-proof board, medium density fiberboard or hard fiberboard, and heat-press it. Decorative plate.

Specifications: 2135mm×915mm, 2440mm×915mm, 2440mm×1220mm, thickness 0.6-1.2mm.

Advantages: flat surface, not easy to deform, bright color, more wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant surface, economical price.

Disadvantages: the edges are easy to collapse, the glue marks are obvious, the texture is more, but the color choices are less, and the edges can only be straight-sealed.

Uses: It is often used in the decoration of indoor buildings and various furniture and kitchen cabinets, such as some panels, walls, cabinet surfaces, cabinet laminates, etc. Not suitable for floor decoration.

Environmental protection: It is especially emphasized that as long as the melamine in the board is not eaten, it will not cause harm to the human body.

8. Painted board

Process: The MDF is used as the base material, and the surface is polished, primed, dried, and polished (three bases, two sides, and one light) at a high temperature for six to nine times. The paint board can be divided into three types: bright, matt and metal paint.

Advantages: bright colors, diverse choices, easy to clean, and have a certain light-filling effect on the space.

Disadvantages: high technical level, high scrap rate, high price, fear of bumps and scratches, damage and difficult to repair, need to be replaced as a whole; color aberration is likely to occur in kitchens with more oily smoke.

Uses: Mainly used for kitchen cabinets, doors, etc.

9. Aluminum gusset

Process: Based on aluminum alloy plate, aluminum gusset products are obtained through cutting, corner cutting, compression molding, and various coatings on the surface. The surface treatment is divided into several forms such as spraying, rolling and laminating.

Category: aluminum-magnesium alloy, good oxidation resistance, good strength and rigidity, the best material for suspended ceilings; aluminum-manganese alloy, strength and rigidity slightly better than aluminum-magnesium alloy, but slightly insufficient oxidation resistance; aluminum alloy, strength and rigidity Both are significantly lower and have average antioxidant capacity.

Advantages: long service life, fireproof, moisture-proof, antistatic, easy to clean, good texture, high-grade, and easy to form a unified style with ceramic tiles, sanitary ware, and kitchen cabinets.
