What if the small kitchen is too small? The most direct way is of course to pay attention to the design of kitchen cabinet, and use kitchen cabinets to make up for the lack of visual and practical aspects of the kitchen. The smaller the kitchen, the more attention should be paid to the following three issues when making kitchen cabinets.
Do not leave blank
1. The normal passing space only needs 0.9m. Exceeding this size proves that there is a waste of space. The wasted aisle space can be compensated for by increasing the depth of the countertop—one inch deeper on the countertop, one more inch of space in the cabinet, and perhaps an extra stack of bowls and an extra bag of rice.
2. For a type I or L type kitchen, consider customizing narrow side cabinets on blank walls. When there is not enough space for narrow side cabinets, you can consider reducing the countertop depth of the opposite row of kitchen cabinets. An extra row of kitchen cabinets is more practical than increasing the size of a single kitchen cabinet.
2. The positions of the edges and corners, such as next to the flue and near the gas pipeline, should be used to make kitchen cabinets with corresponding irregular shapes. Don’t underestimate these irregular kitchen cabinets, they may save you a shelf.
Expansion table
1. The countertop space is very precious, it is not only the face of the whole kitchen, but also the temporary operation area. If you can not occupy the countertop, try not to occupy it.
There are two ways to not take up countertop space:
The first is to rationally configure the base cabinet – there is not even a place to put seasonings and kitchen knives in the base cabinet, and it is impossible not to occupy the countertop.
The second is to make full use of the wall storage, and the things that can be hung on the wall should not occupy the countertop.
2. Increase the temporary countertop. The countertop area in the small kitchen is too small, and it will be filled with just a few dishes. At this time, the temporary countertop can be expanded to temporarily act as a console.
There are also two ways to add temporary countertops: the first is to develop kitchen cabinets, such as making the top drawer a flat surface, just like the keyboard drawer of a computer desk. When it is used, it is pulled out, and it is a countertop (remember to choose the track that can be locked, so as not to close itself during use).
The second is to develop blank wall space – if there is still a wall in the kitchen that is not used as a kitchen cabinet, and there is no condition to be a kitchen cabinet, a folding table top can be installed on this wall. It is not in the way when it is usually put away; when it is used, it is pulled out and it is a desktop.
Occupying wall space
The thickness of one wall is at least 20cm, and if two walls are smashed, nearly half a meter of space will be released – this half meter is very critical for a small kitchen.
If there is a light wall in the kitchen that can be smashed, it is recommended to smash it without hesitation. If the kitchen door is relatively large, it is also recommended not to install a sliding door.
Smashed walls and knocked down doors can be sealed with glass to make them semi-open. In this way, the lighting problem in the small kitchen is solved, and it will look more transparent and larger visually.
The thickness of the glass is very small, and under the glass, we can make a bar (half glass and half bar). The bar should not be idle, the interior can be stored, and the surface can be stored.
The bar can even be further developed: don’t let the glass be installed close to the bar, and make it as a food delivery table in the cafeteria. There is also a gap between the glass and the bar, so that the storage capacity of the bar can be further enhanced.
